It’s been a historic Games for Great Britain, as our athletes have dominated the events in London and win a record haul of gold medals – our most successful ever Games.
Initially, there was sceptism surrounding whether Team GB could eclipse the record haul in Beijing four years ago, but that has since evaporated as the Brits have excelled on home soil.
After Helen Glover and Heather Stanning opened up Team GB’s account on 1 August, winning our first ever medal in women’s rowing, the medals have flooded in. Cycling, rowing, sailing, boxing… it doesn’t matter what the sport, Team GB have excelled as the likes of Chris Hoy, Ben Ainslie and Bradley Wiggins write themselves into the history books for Team GB.
