Try before you buy

For a closer look at this tile, why not order a sample tile? Samples are a great way to get a feel for a tile's true size, colour and texture, and you can see how it will look in place on the wall. Sample tiles come with Free Delivery.

The difference between the Retro Metro Tile and the White Chapel 200x100 Tile

These Retro Metro ceramic wall tiles feature a slightly deeper bevelled metro edge compared to the White Chapel Gloss Tiles. These popular white metro tiles also are slightly thinner, measuring 200x100x7mm opposed to the classic 7mm Metro Tiles collection. The heavier bevel on these white metro tiles means they will work great on their own to create a clean and crisp white finish.

Achieve the look in the picture

To achieve the white / grey / blue mix shown in the kitchen splashback in the pictures, combine these white metro tiles with Bevelled Brick Teal Gloss Tiles and Bevelled Brick Dark Grey Tiles.

Are these tiles white backed or brown backed ?
David Drummond | 23 Jun 2019

Answer logo
Hi David

These tiles are made from a brown/red clay which is common for most Spanish manufacturers. However, we would still advise obtaining a sample to ensure you are happy with the product before making your final decision.

If you wish to discuss your project in more detail or to arrange samples or a quotation, please call our Sales team on 01536 314730 or request a call-back via the link below, and they will be more than happy to help you.

The pictures show's the tiles laid out in a typical "brick wall" style method, my question is could I just lay them on top of each other evenly/equally? Imagine first row of tiles on, then second row identically over the top of them (same size cut every corner) then so forth exactly the same.
Thanks

Hi Andrew

There are several possible layouts including what you are referring to, which is a straight bond. There is no right or wrong layout and is entirely down to your preference and creativity.

Hi
What tile trim would work with this tile? I'm looking at your 10mm Aluminium Straight Edge Brushed Brass Tile Trim but these tiles are 7mm thick; You're 8mm tile trims do not appear to come in this finish. Is 8mm definitely the tile trim size I'd need for these tiles?
Many thanks
Jo | 7 Feb 2019

Answer logo
Hi Jo

We have checked with the manufacturer, and strangely the 8mm trim is not available in the brushed brass effect colour. However a 10mm trim can be used, but it will take a little extra adhesive under the tiles to allow enough room for adjustment for the trim to sit level.

If you wish to discuss your project or to view other alternative trims, please call our sales team on 01536 314730, and they will be more than happy to assist you.

Can you please tell me if these tiles have glazed edges,? We are looking for tiles for the kitchen that don't require the use of beads to cover the top edges and the corners.

Thanks Alan
Alan | 23 Jan 2019

Answer logo
Hi Alan,

Nowadays it is extremely rare that tiles come with a glazed edge as standard. These tiles have normal exposed edges and the usual way we would advise finishing them is with a tile trim. However, another method its to spread a thin bead of decorators caulk across the top to cloak the edge. This can then be painted the same colour to blend with the remainder of the wall.

For external angles, without a trim, the only other method is to mitre the tiles to wrap them round the corner, Although it is extremely tricky to achieve a perfect finish.

Hi are are bevelled white gloss retro metro wall tiles 5mm thick or 7mm? The video says 5mm but the info says 7mm!

Hi Sam,

These tiles are 7mm at the thickest point and 5mm on the shallow edge. We will review the video so that we can make it a little clearer.

Thank you for pointing this out to us and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Question logo
Hi,

We wish to use these tiles for a wall i our kitchen in a brick formation I understand from another question that you don’t do a half brick. What do you recommend we do for the edge of the wall? We’re concerned that if we simply cut a brick then we’ll have a straight edge next to a bevelled edge and it will look strange.
Emma Allen | 7 Aug 2018

Answer logo
Hi Emma,

When it comes to finishing edges when laying brick bond style it is very common to use a trim down the outside or exposed edge. There are lots to choose from so one to fit the style of your kitchen can be found here https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=8mm+trim

Do I need grout with these tiles if I get a white adhesive?
Michaela | 23 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Michaela,

Hello Michaela

We would advise tile tiles are grouted once fitted. The adhesive and grout do different things you see, if you would like a white grout I would suggest https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/anti-mould-flexible-tile-grout-white-anti-mould-tile-grout-3kg with a 2mm spacer https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/toolshed-tiling-tools-2mm-spacers other grout colours are available and you can always call our sales team on 01536 314730 for more advice should you need it.

What size trim will I need for the bevelled Brick white wall tiles 5mm thick
Thanks Rik
Rik | 22 May 2018

Answer logo
Hi Rik

For Metro tiles, we recommend an 8mm trim. This will be sufficient to cater for the thickest part of of a cut tile and a layer of the tile adhesive:

Question logo
Where will I find trims for the becelled brixk white ceramic wall tiles? Are they a certain length? Any info appreciated.....
Mr Ian Dobison | 30 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Ian,

For these tiles we recommend 8mm trim to account for the thickest part of the tile and layer of adhesive. It is personal preference as to which colour or profile you go for, but the most used for this tile type is the Bright Silver Straight edge trim. You will also find a link below to our full range of available trims:

I've got a small ensuite just being refitted with no natural light so want a white tile for just the shower wall and splash back on basin
What size would you recommend?
I'm looking at the Metro -do they work well in the shower?
Pauline Watling | 30 Mar 2018

Hi Pauline,

Metro tiles are fine for a shower, both in size and practicality. Please have a look at the room set images and you will see how they look in larger areas. We would advise obtaining a sample before ordering, but if you wish to discuss other available size options, please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to assist you.

What sort of trim works best with these tiles, curved or straight edge and what depth should I buy 8,10 or 12mm
Peter | 19 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Dean,

Both would work equally as well but the straight edge tends to be more popular with bevelled tiles. We'd advise an 8mm trim to allow for the thickest part of the cut tile and adhesive bed depth:

You can also order a single sample tile to check you like them. Sample tiles come full size and with free delivery.

Do you do half width bezelled brick shape tiles? For corners etc.
Suzanne | 2 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for your question!

We don’t sell half tiles for things like corners. The tiles can be cut very easily with a tile cutter and this is how angles, corners and edges are formed.

Hi Mark,

To allocate for the thickest part of the tile and a thin layer of adhesive, we'd recommend a 6mm trim to go with these:

Hi, what is the thickness of the tiles and does it make a difference if they are thinner - seeing a few customers mention this in the reviews
Alice Smith | 4 Dec 2017
0
Answer logo
Hi Alice
As a rule, a wall tile has two main jobs to do. 1, to protect the wall giving it a more practical surface and 2, to look while doing it. The thickness of a tile will not have any affect on how it performs it's duties. Providing the walls are correctly prepared and the tiles are fixed correctly with a solid bed of adhesive, they will be fine in any area from kitchens to bathrooms and showers.

I am considering using a dark coloured grout here, what would be the best one to use in a kitchen?
Kate | 23 Nov 2017

Answer logo
Hello Kate,

The colour of the grout is completely down to personal preference. The colour can either blend or contrast the tile colour, or complement a particular rooms colour scheme.

We have found recently there has been an increased demand for medium to dark grey, so you may find these selections favourable:

What floor tiles would look good with this in a kitchen?
Claire Pointer | 16 Nov 2017

Answer logo
Hi Claire,

The floor tiles you put with these metro tiles are down to your own personal style, but we find that customers often tend to use wood effect tiles to complement brick-shaped wall tiles. There are lots of great designs to choose from in our wood effect category: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/wood-effect-tiles

One stylish new wood effect range is the Muniellos collection: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/muniellos-wood-effect-tiles
