Question logo
Hello. I have a few questions about this product. Does it leave terracotta tiles and travertine tiles looking 'wet' ?(I like this effect) Should it be applied BEFORE grouting/using adhesive to avoid staining and marking? Can it be applied to tiles previously sealed with a matt finish? (I used mattstone on the terracotta ones in the bathroom, but I think they look much nicer when they are wet, so I want to recoat them with the above product if it will achieve that effect) Thanks a lot!

Hi Linda,

The Ironwax Gloss will leave a shiny "just mopped" appearance and is suitable for any form of natural stone. However, it relies on the surface to be slightly porous for it to work. Extremely porous stone like Terracotta will need a couple of coats of the LTP Mattstone to reduce the porosity before the Ironwax is applied. But on Travertine, the Ironwax can be used as a primary sealer. It will need applying before grouting to prevent the tiles from staining, but a further coat after grouting is recommended to ensure you have an even finish.

For tiles that are already sealed or impervious, the LTP Glaze Protector would be the recommended alternative, but it should be noted, that both the Ironwax and the Glaze Protector are only suitable for use in dry areas.

Both sealers can be maintained using the LTP Floorshine:
