What is the recommended gap for the Lustre Peru Wood Effect Tiles when laying in herring bone pattern

Hi Si

We would suggest a grout line of 2mm with these floor tiles and you can order the right size spacers here https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/toolshed-tiling-tools-2mm-spacers if you need some.

Kind regards

Hi, can these be used on the walls inside a shower? Thank you

Hi Helena

This tile can be used on wet area walls, but as with any shower tile installation, the substrate should be suitable waterproof. These tiles due to the weight including fixing materials exceed the weight limit for plaster, so you have a couple of possible options.

The first is to board the walls with plasterboard and leave them un-skimmed. Or you could use a water-resistant backer board such as Hardie Backer. These will both need waterproofing with a tanking kit, such as the Ardex WPC:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ardex-tile-preparation-sealants-ardex-wpc-waterproof-protection-coat

The next option is to board the walls with a waterproof backer board such as the Jackoboard and seal the joints and screw fixings with the Jackon Waterproof Tape. This can be tiled over without the need for any further tanking:

Question logo
Can these tiles be laid parquet style
Joolz | 27 Dec 2018

Answer logo
Hi Joolz

There are many different layouts available for wood effect tiles, Whilst the most common is the random length or quarter bond, they can also be laid in herringbone (as per the image) or double herringbone. Alternatively, we would advise loose laying the tiles before fixing to test if you preferred layout is achievable.

Hi Helen,

We have no plans to discontinue this range, however we have no control over manufacturers production or available ranges. If you are doing the tiling in two stages and the areas are connected, we would advise ordering enough tiles for both projects to avoid possible inherent batch/shade variations or availability issues.

Question logo
Are these suitable for an outside patio? You say matt with a slight texture, would they be slippery?
Linda | 24 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Linda,

These tiles are made from ceramic and as such would not be recommended for outdoor use. We would suggest going for an anti-slip tile for your project, see this link for some options https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=anti+slip+wood

Kind regards,

Are these easy enough to clean? I'm after tiles for the kitchen wall, near the hob so need to be able to wash the odd grease splash off without problem.
Jen | 11 Dec 2017

Answer logo
Hi Jen

These tiles are a glazed porcelain and only have a faint texture. Two things that would help, would be to seal the grout joint with the LTP Grout and Tile Protector to prevent the grout joints staining, and the LTP Multi cleaning for easily removing grease splashes:

If we ordered too many or had boxes left over, would we be able to return to you? What about any damaged or chipped tiles there may be in a pallet? Kind regards, David
david Chadwick | 29 Nov 2017

Hi David,

We do recommend holding on to a few loose tiles as spares in case you ever need to replace any, but unopened tiles in their original packaging can be returned for a refund. Here is a link to our returns page for more information:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/returns-information/

If by any chance you do receive any damages on delivery, please notify us within 48 hours and we will replace them for you as soon as possible.
