These gorgeous Tumbled Travertine Tiles are guaranteed to catch the eye of your guests. They will bring real character and definition to your floors. They're not limited to just the kitchen or bathroom - they look fantastic in any living area. They're made from tumbled, unfilled travertine.

To help keep these tiles nice and clean, we suggest using LTP Grimex Intensive Cleaner. Natural stone tends to be slightly porous, so we recommend sealing your fantastic new tiles with either LTP Mattstone H20 Sealer or LTP Mattstone Sealer. To keep your tiles looking fresh and new, apply LTP Waxwash Maintenance.

What does tumbled travertine mean as opposed to just Travertine? Thanks
Jade | 18 Feb 2019
Answer logo
Hi Jade,

The main form people associate travertine with is Honed and Filled. Travertine is a form of Limestone but contains holes and air-pockets in its structure. With this type of travertine, the tiles are cut to size, the holes in the surface filled with resin, and they then go through a final process to polish or "hone" the surface to a smooth satin finish.

Tumbled travertine tiles are much closer to their original state. The tiles are straight cut and go into a tumbling machine, containing an aggregate. As the tumbler spins, the tiles rub the aggregate leaving a subtly rounded off finish to the edges and corners. The tiles do not go through any further process and arrive with the original holes remaining in the surface, which when fixed, can be filled with grout.

Regarding the installation, travertine tiles must be fixed with a white cement based adhesive, spread on the floor as well as a back skim on the tile to fill any voids, and sealed both before and after grouting with the LTP Mattstone sealer:

Question logo
Hi, would these tiles be suitable to put on a wall over bath and shower? Do they need some extra filling or sealing? Thank you
Zuzana | 8 Nov 2018
Answer logo
Hi Zuzanna,

Yes these can be used on a wall but the first thing you need to consider is the weight of the tile. Most normal substrates will not be suitable to hold the weight so may need re-boarding with Hardie-Backer then tanked to make the area completely waterproof. The tiles will then need fixing with a White cement based adhesive:

The tiles will need sealing both before and after grouting with the LTP Mattstone sealer. We would recommend filling any holes in the stone with grout and when it is sealed for the second time, these will also be sealed and protected:

If you would like to discuss you project in more detail, please call our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to advise you.
