A natural slate mosaic on a mesh netting. The individual tile size is 25x25mm.

To help keep these tiles nice and clean, we suggest using LTP Grout Stain Remover. Natural stone tends to be slightly porous, so we recommend sealing your fantastic new tiles with LTP Grout and Tile Protector. To keep your tiles looking fresh and new, apply LTP Waxwash Maintenance. There are 11 sheets per square meter and 144 tiles per sheet.

They are beautiful

Love these tiles. I bought these to finish off the edges of the brick style ones. Being mosaic style they are a pain to grout but my goodness they look amazing in my kitchen.

These tiles look fine and the sample received visually matched the bought product. My only issue, but a significant one, is the huge variation in thickness of the tiles both within a single mat and between different mats. Some of the tiles were almost three times thicker than others - the tiles had a nominal thickness of 10mm but actually were anything between 13 and 5. I’m not a professional tiler, but I’ve laid lots in my time including natural ones like travertine mosaics, but these slate ones have been the most challenging I’ve ever had to deal with. Being fixed to a mat, and individually very small, trying to get a flat finish is virtually impossible. Cutting them is very difficult too, it’s structure means it tends to split very easily - but it is slate so I can accept that. One of two things is happening here - not sure which. Either the quality control is very poor, or these are some sort of seconds. I realise these are natural material, but the variation shouldn’t be as great as it is. Whichever cause I would not recommend these to anyone unless they have the experience to deal with massive variation or don’t care about the finish.

Hi Neil and thank you for taking the time to give us your review.

Everything you have explained regarding the cutting and layers are characteristics of natural slate. The depth of the mosaic is down to being cut from non-calibrated slabs. If you were to order a raw natural riven full-size slate tile, the thickness would vary throughout every tile, from as low as 5mm up to 10mm. So with the mosaics cut from the same type of material, will inevitably lead to a sheet of varying thicknesses (size shown as 5-10mm in the specification). This is the intended finish by the factory for a more rustic feel and appearance rather than being seconds or an issue with quality control.

We appreciate your feedback, and we are sorry that you had difficulties with this product, but we hope you have managed to complete your project without any further trouble.

Thanks for you response. The tiles look fine now thanks. I accept your explanation to a point. I've laid large slate tiles that do vary a lot, but they are more easily dealt with. The variation with these mosaics was much greater than stated (at the time I bought them I think it only said 10mm) with some tiles almost three times thicker than others both within a single mat and between different mats. The challenge is trying to avoid very obvious lines where one mat adjoins another because the tiles are so hugely different in thickness. Sorting the mats helps to some extent - but not enough to avoid the problem. It's not impossible to get a decent look - but it's most certainly not easy. Grading of the mats would be a great help. Aside from all this, which I eventually worked around, I was very happy with the service provided and will certainly buy from you again.

Can these be used outside?
David Fruen | 5 Jun 2018

Hi David

These tiles are natural slate so fine for external use. To ensure they are completely resistant to changing weather conditions, we'd recommend sealing them before and after grouting, using the LTP Colour Intensifier:

Question logo
Can I use these slate mosaic floor tiles on the floor of my wet room? if so how are there resistance to dirt and how easy are they to clean?
Simon Steff | 27 Feb 2018

Hi Simon,

These tile can be used on a wet room floor. They would require sealing with the LTP Colour Intensifier to prevent water ingress. To clean, a scrubbing brush is the most effective way, with a solution of the LTP Waxwash:
