Choosing your wall tile adhesive
When it comes to choosing an adhesive for your new ceramic wall tiles, there is one choice that ticks all of the boxes. It’s our own-brand Kwik Grip Ice White Wall Tile Adhesive. Firstly, it has enhanced early grip and non slip qualities; this means that from the second you push your tile into it, it’s already starting to take hold, whereas other tile adhesives may take a few seconds of holding the tile in place.
Secondly, it’s ready-mix – it’s a liquid. Lots of tile adhesives come in a powdered format, which means having to read the label to find out the mixing quantities, and then pouring particular parts of adhesive powder and water into a bucket, and mixing it to the right consistency. It’s lots of bother – so our own-brand ready-mixed tile adhesive by-passes all that.
Thirdly, it’s water resistant, which is crucial when tiling a shower area. No matter how well you water proof a shower area, there’s always a minute chance that moisture will make its way behind the tiles. In the event that this happens, you want a nice water resistant tile adhesive to prevent weakening of the grip. Finally, it can be used to apply wall tiles to all kinds of backdrop such as plasterboard, plaster, existing ceramic tiles (not recommended), painted wall, cement, sand rendering, tile backerboards, worktops and wooden backgrounds.
Fixing your floor tiles
When it comes to fixing your floor tiles in place, it calls for a powdered adhesive, which are normally harder-setting like concrete (which is not required on wall spaces, because you won’t be applying weight to your wall tiles). For this, we recommend using our Kwik Flex Grey Floor Tile Adhesive. It’s suitable for fixing ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles in place. It can be used to apply tiles to the following surfaces: timber panels, WPB plywood, waterproof composite boards and impermeable surfaces, such as existing tiles and powerfloated concrete. It’s also water resistant, and is recommended for use with underfloor heating.
