So you’ve decided to give your living room a refresh. Whether you’re adding a few subtle updates or you’re undertaking a complete overhaul, you’ll need a bit of inspiration. When I’m looking for decorating ideas for various rooms throughout my house, I often look at celebrity homes, to see what they’ve done. Why? Because celebrities fork out tens of thousands hiring the best interior designers; so you’re guaranteed to arrive at a thought-out, on-trend look when you follow the scheme of a celebrity home. I’ve put together 10 stylish celebrity living rooms…
1) Cameron Diaz – Linear Backdrop
In the living room of Charlie’s Angel Cameron Diaz, you’ll notice an abundance of light, airy furniture and soft furnishings; with a warmer tone on the back wall. I love the use of a reddy/orange linear effect tile in the backdrop; it helps to inject a warming natural feel into the scheme, reminiscent of stone or woodgrain. For a similar look, try these linear-effect Willow Tiles.
2) Diane Keaton – Quarry Tiles
Michael Corleone’s long-suffering wife in the Godfather trilogy, Diane Keaton has gone for a more traditional look in her living room, with a base of clay quarry tiles. Quarry tiles are perfect for creating a warm villa-esque appearance in an interior space, and they work well with the dark wooden furniture.
3) John Legend – Wood Grain
I’m a huge fan of John Legend’s music, but I’m also a big fan of his living area, with it’s stunning natural backdrop. On the wall, there’s a wood effect tile alive with a linear wood grain design. The floors are laden with stone effect tiles. The result? A natural-embracing sanctuary in which you can relax and unwind.
4) Jonathan Adler – Metro Feature Wall
A name you might not have heard of, Jonathan Adler is a potter, designer and author from America. What strikes me most about Mr Adler is the fantastic metro feature wall in his living room; on the right-hand side in the pic below. It enforces the idea that, if you’re bored of having a wholly neutral scheme, all you need to do is inject an accent colour on one wall, or column, or chimney breast.
5) Kirsten Dunst – Industrial Chic
With its rustic wooden flooring and exposed-brick walls, Kirsten Dunst’s living room has an industrial vibe, mixed with vintage tones; dark vintage arm chairs and black window frames, with a vintage movie poster on the wall. To help achieve this look in your home, use Casa Brick Slip Effect Tiles.
6) Kylie Minogue – Cool Blues and Warm Browns
In the living room of her London home, ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ singer Kylie Minogue has an interesting contrast of cool blues and warm browns. The light blues on the walls and sofas contrast beautifully with the rich wood effect floor tiles, which sport a decorating parquet crate design, similar to these Vintage Wood Tiles.
7) Rachel Bilson – Metro Fireplace
An actress from Hart of Dixie and The OC, Rachel Bilson’s living room struck me for one reason – the simply gorgeous fireplace. The entire chimney breast is clad in sleek, stylish metro tiles; light and creamy in colour. They turn the fireplace into a focal point that is guaranteed to catch the eye of guests as they step in through the door. To create your own metro tile chimney breast, use our Rhian Tiles.
8) Reese Witherspoon – Rustic
The star of Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon’s living room consists of a powerful, woody rustic look with a wood-beamed ceiling, a dominant fireplace, a stacked log pile, bare wooden boards, brassy armchairs, and a bronze plant pot. All these rich, warm colours contrast perfectly with the room’s white backdrop. For a similar floor, try our Faith Wood Effect Tiles.
9) Selena Gomez – Light and Dark
Pop Star Selena Gomez’s two-toned living room offers a stylish contrast between light and dark; with pale grey walls and sofas rising from a dark wood effect floor. For an equally stylish, dark-toned wood effect floor in your home, try these Tavern Black Wood Tiles.
10) Hugh Heffner – Splitface Feature Wall
Having founded Playboy, Hugh Heffner is an entrepreneurial legend; and I admire his décor, too. In one of the mansion’s living rooms, a feature wall has been created by using a face of striking splitface tiles from ceiling to floor. Splitface tiles are perfect for adding a varied, textured look to any wall space. For a similarly rustic design, try these Ledgestone Multicolour Splitface Tiles.
