5 Easy, Low Budget Ways to Refresh Your Home

A lot of us will be spending time at home at the minute… and with spare time on our hands, it’s quite easy to get that itching feeling to redecorate. Yet, not all of us usually have the time and money to throw into a huge renovation project, especially after the festive season!

This is where we come in handy to inspire you!

We’ve devised 5 ideas to refresh your home in an affordable, and relatively quick, way – so you can have all the feeling of fresh, revamped design, without the heartache of expense.

A designer splash back

Introducing colour or design can be intimidating… and we think a bold splash back is the perfect way to introduce an accent colour to a kitchen!

You can really customise a splash back to how you want it – whether that is just behind the gas hob to catch grease splashes, or all the way around your worktop for fluid and ‘just in case’ moments – you never know what you may spill on to your paintwork!

Their small area means you can make a bold statement without spending too much money on tiles and they are relatively easy to install! We love the idea of a patterned splash back for the ultimate showstopper, and our Classico Fleur Silver Pattern Tiles look great here as a feature.

First impressions count!

If you can’t make a positive statement at the entry to your home, then where can you?! We’re seeing our tiles used in hallways and doorsteps by our customers, and we are loving the outcome!

Plus, it is an easy project that is easy on the eye, and it lets you set the tone for the rest of your home’s design!

Small places

It’s important not to neglect those smaller places when it comes to great design, and a cloakroom/downstairs toilet is a great space to upgrade!

Their square metreage isn’t too large either, so they’re relatively inexpensive to redesign. And you’ve got the added bonus of decorating wall and floor, or both – so, why haven’t you done it yet?

Our Vernice tiles high gloss finish is great for smaller spaces, as it helps to reflect light around the room and give the illusion of larger space. They also come in 6 gorgeous colourways so the choice really is yours when it comes to design – they are featured here in Storm and Cloud.

Home is where the Hearth is

Ah, fireplaces. Now is definitely their time to shine given the colder weather and darker nights – so what better reason than to upgrade them? Give them some love this season!

With such a small surface area, a hearth revamp is more than affordable if you’re in the market to update your home (which I’m guessing you are if you’re reading this blog!) Fireplaces are rarely bigger than 3 foot wide so even with one of our midrange tiles, it would rarely cost you more than around £30.

We love this hearth design we were tagged in on Instagram featuring our Scintilla Sky tiles and we estimate it to cost under £20 for the tiles. Complete with plants, candles and log burner, it is the perfect cosy feature to a living room setting! Just make sure the tiles are porcelain if possible and fireproof adhesive is used to maximise longevity.

Easy clean up…

It’s quite normal to have a rug underneath your dining room table, but what about getting innovative and making a tiled rug? That way, you can have all the practicality of easy-to-clean flooring, with all the fun and love in alternative design!

With tiles’ hard-wearing and wipe-clean surface, it will be much more practical for cleaning up those dinner spillages whilst still creating a feature in your dining room. Or, if you own a kitchen-diner, why not coordinate and go for a matching splash back and tiled rug to really keep your interior design consistent?
