75 Years of Graham & Brown: Epoch and Timepiece

Graham & Brown’s Colour of the Year and Wallpaper of the Year 2021 are designed to encapsulate the feeling and tone of their 75th Anniversary.

‘Epoch’ and ‘Timepiece’ perfectly commemorate their Diamond year, with their regal aesthetic and jewel-toned palette. They hold historical, and emotional, significance for the company, as they describe:

‘The rich, deep amethyst is the key colour for 2021 and beyond and fits neatly into our history as amethyst is the birthstone for February,’ and; ‘This wallpaper design takes us on a reflective journey through our archives, from 1946 to present day to celebrate our Diamond 75th anniversary.’

The Colourway…

Epoch is a rich purple tone present in Timepiece Amethyst that ‘amplifies’ its rich colour palette, designed to ‘channel the revelry, regality and luxury associated with it’. This gorgeous shade is perfect for injecting deep warmth in to your home, and looks spectacular in bold spaces for high-impact interiors, or pared-back spaces for more soothing schemes.

Our Head of Creative Design, Louisa Charlotte Swannell, shares her thoughts on Epoch:

Over the past two years we have seen a rise in ‘new neutrals’ and this chic, muted colourway will be no different; Epoch breathes instant longevity into the success of Aubergine as a trending colour for 2020, making it plausible for almost any interior setting.

With a delicately subdued purple undertone this shade is not dramatic enough to be overbearing or oppressive but will enable an undeniable luxurious and enchanting mood throughout a home. I would recommend enhancing the understated opulence of ‘Epoch’ by incorporating rich wooden notes and deep forest greens for ultimate indulgence.

In the name of rejuvenation, Epoch is said to be for ‘restful spaces, for healthier, happier homes’. Moving forward in to 2021, this dimensional shade of plum is the perfect colour to reflect positive, luxurious energy in your home and life.

The Design…

Graham & Brown’s Wallpaper of the Year 2021, Timepiece, is an amalgamation of graphics in their archive, from 1946 to the present day – the perfect way to reflect the vivid and rich history of Graham & Brown over the last 75 years. As they say, Timepiece ‘reflects on the aesthetics of the past to inform the designs of the future’, and the Amethyst colourway in this vivid design features none other than Epoch.

Printed on a shimmering mica fibrous paper and combining designs such as our very first wallpaper produced, classic stunning florals and a sharp diamond geometric, this wallpaper affirms our innovative nature and pride in what we do.

Graham & Brown also offer Timepiece Amethyst in a bespoke mural for the first time, with customisable dimensions and scale. We think it makes the perfect stand-out feature for a designer home.

Tiles We Love With Epoch…

Foxed Mirror Tiles

Go opulent, or go home! These mirrored tiles, with their antique distressed look, are perfect for adding depth to a room or reflecting gorgeous design. We’d pair these with Epoch, or even the Timepiece mural as a feature wall, and soft, matt Cappella Gold tiles on the floor for the ultimate luxury hallway.

Craquelure Kingfisher Tiles

Pair rich colours together for a bold and beautiful home! Kingfisher’s teal tones are more than complementary to Epoch, as cool hues bring out its deep warmth. We envision Epoch as a feature a kitchen setting with white, wooden cabinets and a Craquelure Kingfisher splashback – a simple yet statement way to reinvent dead space.

Blengdale Cerezo Wood Effect Tiles

Harmonise the sultry soothing of Epoch with our natural wood effect tiles. The darker tones of our Blengdale Cerezo tiles create an inviting, homely vibe with their soft-touch finish, and, as suggested by Louisa above, wooden notes are the ultimate indulgence!

Lily Pink Tiles

Choose Gatsby Glamour with an art-deco vibe! These gorgeous patterned Lily tiles coupled with the blooming stems of Timepiece’s Dutch Flower is a match made in heaven. For seasonal style, why not try Lily Forest instead? Our expert in Creative Design loves Epoch with deep greens and botanical plants for the ultimate interior style statement.
