2013 was one hell of a year for Walls and Floors! A lot of new and exciting things came to fruition. From stunning new ranges through to stalls at world-renowned events; from successful competitions through to Do-It-Yourself Videos. Let’s take a look back from the last twelve months.
In October, our brand new brochure was released. Longer in length than ever before, and full of bright and stylish ideas for your home, it has proven to be a must-read for the would-be house decorator. Divided into helpful little sections, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for! Go and order your free copy.
Our exclusive designer Louisa Charlotte’s tile collection grew substantially throughout 2013. From just a couple of ranges, it has grown into a stunning selection of unique and inspiring pieces – from room-stealing feature wall tiles through to in-vogue wood effect floor tiles.
Inspired by Laura Ashley’s Artisan range, Louisa Charlotte’s Rustic Metro Tiles have proven to be a sell-out hit! A collection of 150×75 brick tiles with a warped, textured surface, they will bring some real definition to your walls.
Brand new to the collection in 2014 is the exclusive Eden Tiles range. It’s a mixture of striking floral feature pieces and linear wall tiles, with a linear floor tile to match! Made by British Ceramic Tile exclusively for Walls and Floors, this eye-catching tile collection will transform any room in your home.
The Mobile Site
In 2013, we launched our fantastic Mobile site; perfect for people on the go. It proved to be a massive success, and we’ve received loads of compliments on how quick and easy it is to use. We strive to constantly improve the features and usability – so make sure you check in on your smart phone, and get a piece of the action!
Next Day Delivery
Late in 2013, we introduced our Next Day Delivery option. For the very first time, customers could pay a little extra and have their order arrive the very next day. This is great for people who don’t like waiting around. Let’s face it – who does like waiting around?
How to Videos
We published a bunch of helpful and insightful How To videos last year, too. In them, a professional tiler takes you through the process of tiling your kitchen, bathroom and shower room with simple step-by-step instructions. He tells you how to tile a wall, how to tile a floor, how to grout your joints, and how to deal with natural stone. They’ve had hundreds of views – and the watch-counts are growing daily. You can check them out on our How To Tile page. They’re full of great advice.
Growing our Social Family
We added a few members to our Social Media family, too. Alongside our long-standing Facebook, twitter and Google plus profiles, we introduced Pinterest and Instagram! Pinterest has really grown throughout the year. It has become a rich bank of inspiring room set ideas and images. Instagram gives more of an insight into the behind-the-scenes stuff here at Walls and Floors. We post pics of brand new ranges arriving in the office, or new leaflets and brochures turning up from the printers; hot off the press.
Win Back the Cost of Your Tiles
Here at Walls and Floors, we are renowned for our fantastic monthly giveaways. But none have been as generous or as well-received as the Before and After competitions that started last year. To enter, all you had to do was send in a before and after picture of your tiling project. Our favourite transformation won back the cost of their tile order. Go and get involved with our latest Before and After Competition.
In 2013, we published an engaging tile trailer to our YouTube channel. It was full of inspiring room set images, to help our channel visitors get a better idea of what they might like in their home. It got over a thousand views! We’ve since published another trailer, highlighting all the best picks from our Extended Winter Sale.
Grand Designs Live
In October, we hosted a huge stand at Grand Designs Live at the NEC in Birmingham. It was really interactive – with iPads our visitors could hop onto, and flick through our site. There was a huge TV screen that scrolled through some refreshing room set ideas. We even had a competition that visitors could enter, which allowed them to win a room set along with some underfloor heating from Thermonet. The stand was lined with tile boards for people to scroll through, and get inspired by the different effects and designs. Our stand was awarded with a ‘Grand Designs Magazines Loves’ sticker.
Throughout 2013, we held several ‘Hunts’ throughout our site. For Easter, there was an Easter Egg hunt where visitors had to solve clues to find little eggs hidden throughout our website. The eggs spelled out a word, which then had to be sent to our email address. We chose a winner out of all the people who got it right, and they won a fantastic voucher code. We did this again at Halloween – only this time, they had to look for pumpkins. And at Christmas, it was little wrapped gifts they were looking for. Keep an eye out for our Butterfly Hunt, coming in March 2014!
