Ellie is undertaking a huge Edwardian House Renovation, which you can follow on her Instagram account @edwardian.house.reno. She recently updated this fab living space using our vintage-styled Vecchio Diamente Indigo Pattern Tiles. We interviewed her about the project…
How would you describe your room before you decorated it, and what made you decide to decorate?
We dug out our floor and re -instated it using a limecrete system as its period property and had damp issues. The original quarry tiles were laid on earth and the floor was very cold. We put in underfloor heating at the same time, so the floor is now super warm under foot.
What inspired the look you went for in the room?
I love shabby chic decor and these tiles fit perfectly
What drew you to the tiles you chose?
We chose the tiles for their aged , worn look which compliments our Edwardian house . They look original to the house.
Did you do the tiling work yourself, or did you hire a tiler?
We laid the tiles ourselves and due to the size they were pretty quick and easy to do.
What part of the project did you find the most challenging?
The most challenging part was cutting and fitting the tiles around the outside, oh and the grouting…. that was pretty messy
Have you had any compliments on your project, from your family and friends?
Anyone who sees the floor says how beautiful the tiles are and that they look like they have always been there. Very in keeping with our period house.
After this project, do you have any more decorating projects lined up around the house?
Our next tile project is the master en-suite and also our hallway.
What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Walls and Floors?
I have always purchased tiles from walls and floors and will continue to do so. I love their vast range and the service is always exceptional.
