Jade’s Stunning Patchwork Splashback: Customer Style Focus

Jade recently completed a kitchen makeover using our gorgeous Meknes Tiles! We watched it come together on her Instagram channel island_supply_co, and asked for an interview about the project. Here it is…

How would you describe your room before you decorated it, and what made you decide to decorate?

I put a large kitchen extension on the rear of the house with bifold doors, opening up the house onto the south facing garden. None of the original kitchen remains so it was a total blank canvas.

What inspired the look you went for in the room?

I have an eclectic style mixing old and new/modern and vintage and allowing things to evolve. I rarely have a colour scheme in mind.. things just tend to flow. This wall is the darker end of the new kitchen so I wanted something bright and playful as a great backdrop to the larder cupboard I restored and based my whole kitchen design around.

What drew you to the tiles you chose?

I ordered lots of samples but these were always the favourite. With lovely earthy tones they go with modern or vintage interiors and match any colours.

Did you do the tiling work yourself, or did you hire a tiler?

I have many talents but tiling is not one of them. I got a man in!

What part of the project did you find the most challenging?

The extension from start to finish took around 7 months, most of which I struggled without a kitchen, cooker even tap. The tiles going up was the fun bit!

Have you had any compliments on your project, from your family and friends?

Everyone compliments me on the tiles, they have certainly created the fab backdrop I visualised. I have used all the samples in and around my home too. Here (in the pic) my 2nd choice is used as a worktop protector and I’ve used others under plant pots etc.

After this project, do you have any more decorating projects lined up around the house?

My bathroom is about to be ripped out as it’s looking pretty dated now. I’m replacing the bath with a walk-in shower. Metro wall tiles and patterned floor tiles eek!

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Walls and Floors?

I’ve already recommended Walls and Floors to all my friends and family. By far the best around
