Teal Tiles: Balancing cool and warm

Sitting half way between green and blue, teal is a vibrant and refreshing colour; perfect for bringing a dull area to life! On the colour wheel, it sits on the cooler side of the spectrum. This is because blues are reminiscent of cool aspects in nature; the sky, and the ocean. Teal tiles certainly have an aquatic feel to it, and it will cool a room right down. Although this is great in the summer when the sun is shining and it’s nice and warm; but in the winter, when it’s snowing outside, an all-bluescheme might give you the shivers.

That’s why it’s importance to use teal as part of a balanced, contrasting scheme. For every surface of teal tiles, have a warm brown or orange surface. Copper accessories are also a great way of injecting warmth into a room. Get this balance right, and you’ll have a scheme that works perfectly the whole way through the year. Above, teal Antique Smooth Crackle Metro Tiles have been combined with Reclaimed Wood Effect Tiles to help achieve this balance of cool and warm.
