Hi
How many sheets I need for 10sq?
Many thanks
valerie | 7 Nov 2018

Answer logo
Hi Valerie,

There are 10.25 sheets per sqm so you would need to order 103 sheets to do it exactly. If you have not done so already, we would advise adding 10% extra to allow for cuts and wastage.

If you would like to discuss an order, pricing or to order samples, please call our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to help you.

Do you have a version of this tile suitable for outdoor areas (entrance into restaurant)
Alex | 19 Oct 2018

Answer logo
Good afternoon Alex,

The Matt White Hexagon Mosaic can be used outside because it is a porcelain tile and it has a grade rating of 4 meaning it is suitable for residential areas. We would recommend ordering a sample to check that it is suitable for your project.

If you did want to order a sample, please contact our Sales Team on 01536 314730, alternatively email sales@wallsandfloors.co.uk

What is the slip rating of this tile?
Alex | 19 Oct 2018
0
Answer logo
Good afternoon Alex,

These tiles do not have an anti-slip rating. Although the shape and size of the tile and the matt finish will provide a limited amount of grip in wet conditions, we would still recommend obtaining a sample to ensure the texture and finish meet your personal requirements, before making your final decision.

If you did want to order a sample, please contact our Sales Team on 01536 314730, alternatively email sales@wallsandfloors.co.uk

Can these be used with underfloor heating?
jamie crayk | 2 Oct 2018

Answer logo
Hi Jamie,

These mosaics are porcelain so fine with underfloor heating. If you are using an electric cable system, we would recommend encasing the cables in a levelling compound to promote even heat distribution and to give a flatter and easier surface to tile on to. We would also suggest a slow setting adhesive to allow sufficient time for any minor adjustments that may be required:

hello
im looking for a mosaic tile which is suitable for going around a log burner - to the sides and behind it within the fireplace alcove. Is the white hexagon tiles suitable? If so, what grout should be used?
zoe | 11 Jul 2018

Hi Zoe,

These mosaics are glazed porcelain so naturally heat resistant and fine for use around a woodburner. We would recommend fixing them with the Palace Heat Resist Adhesive and grout with the Norcros 4 Into 1 grout:

Judging by the size of the sheet, the two mosaics are different. We would recommend obtaining a sample to view first hand, the colour and finish and to ensure it is suitable for your project.

Can you advise me how to calculate the amount of grout and adhesive is required for these tiles? I have a total area of 7 sq metres to lay.
Dave Jackson | 5 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Dave,

One 20kg bag with a 4mm mosaics trowel and a perfectly flat surface will cover up to 8-10 sqm, so one bag should be enough. We'd recommend a slow setting adhesive such as Standflex to give you plenty of time for adjustment and to minimise adhesive wastage.
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=stand+flex
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/tilerite-tools-trowel-4mm-mosaic

Regarding the grout, you will use approximately 10kgs:

Could you advise the best way to cut these tiles? As they are small will they be hard to cut accurately?
Dave Jackson | 5 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Dave

Mosaics are fiddly to cut but it's still relatively easy. The best way would be to score the tile where you want to cut it using either a manual tile cutter or scribe, and chip away up to the score line using a pair of tile nippers. If required you can give the edges a file to take out any imperfections:

Can these be used in the wet area of a wetroom?
Bridget Boulton | 5 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Bridget

These mosaics are made from glazed porcelain, so fine for use in wet areas. However they do not have an anti-slip rating and will provide minimal grip when wet. If you are intending to use them on the floor, we recommend obtaining a sample to ensure you are comfortable with the finish before making your final decision.

Hi Gemma

These mosaics are glazed porcelain so fine for use in a shower. Due to the amount of joints on show, we would advise sealing the grout with the LTP Grout And Tile Protector to prevent long term discolouration:

I have a sample tile of this and it seems to scratch. Does this product require any type of sealant or maintenance over the years to reduce risk of scratching etc. ?
Lara | 10 May 2018

Answer logo
Hi Lara

These mosaics will withstand foot-traffic in all domestic areas without problem. However occasionally dirt or grit could get caught at the bottom of a shower which if dragged across any tiles surface, can potentially leave a mark which is liable to be more visible on white tiles but not guaranteed against by any tile manufacturer.

If you would like any further assistance, please email us at customerservice@wallsandfloors.co.uk and we will be more than happy to help.

Hi there, can you use grey grouting for these tiles?
Sarah Mace | 10 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Sarah,

Grout colour is down to personal preference so using grey will be fine. The main roomset image is done in a charcoal black to give an idea of the look when using darker grout. We would recommend obtaining a sample of the mosaics and a selection of grout samples from our Norcros 4 Into 1 Grout range before making your final decision:

Hello, what grout would you recommend to get this modern dark look like in your picture for the Matt tiles please? Also do you grout every hexagon or are they pre coloured in between on each tile? Hope that makes sense. Thank you
Marlyn | 17 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Marlyn,

To recreate the look from the picture you can use a grout like https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/anti-mould-flexible-tile-grout-black-charcoal-anti-mould-tile-grout-10kg or https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/anti-mould-flexible-tile-grout-dark-grey-antracite-anti-mould-tile-grout-10kg and you will need to fill in each line between each tile on the mosaic sheet to ensure they are fitted properly as we all between each sheet as well.

Question logo
Hello,
Will my tiler charge me a lot more for laying these tiles because the grouting of so many small areas is more labour intensive than laying large tiles? As a second question, are these tiles less likely to crack if the sub floor is less than 100% flat, than with a much larger tile?

Many thanks, Mary
Mary | 8 Mar 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Mary,

These tiles will be fine for floor use. The tiler should ensure that the substrate is suitable to accept tiles and do any required preparation before fixing. Mosaics are as a rule slightly more expansive to fix but we would advise getting several quotes before choosing a tiler.

Are these tiles suitable for use in wetroom floors? Thanks in advance.
Claire | 2 Mar 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Claire

These mosaics have a matt finish which offers a degree of slip resistance when wet, that most customers find suitable for their own personal requirements. However we would advise a sample to ensure you are happy with the finish, and if in doubt, we would recommend a tile with a slip resistance rating of R11 upwards. Please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 for further information.

Question logo
Do mosaics need to be purchased with a plastic sheeting that needs to go on the wall before these? And also looking at a resin grout? Do these need that?
Polly | 1 Mar 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Polly

These tiles can be laid without a plastic mesh, however you may find handling and installation easier if you do use one, as it keeps the mosaic rigid. Epoxy resin grout is not essential, but can be extremely useful in wet areas and steam rooms due to being the only type of grout that is completely waterproof as opposed to water resistant. However standard grouts will also be fine providing the correct waterproofing preperation is carried out before installation:

Hi, When fitting this product what tile edge product should be used? Would a 6mm tile edge trim such as this below be suitable?

https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/aluminium-straight-edge-trims-matt-silver-06mm

Thanks
Jon | 12 Feb 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Jon

The mosaics are only 4mm thick and usually only use a very thin bed of adhesive. Therefore 6mm may be too deep unless you are able to evenly spread the adhesive to ramp up to the 6mm edge. Failing that, we are able to obtain trim in shallower depths including 4mm which would be more suited to this tile. Liz | 31 Jan 2018

Answer logo
Hi Liz,

Although the matt finish does give a slight degree of slip resistance, these tiles can still be slippery when wet. For wet room floors, we normally advise a tile with an R rating of R-11 or higher. If you require advise on this tile or a suitable alternative, please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to assist you.

Hi Wendy,

There are 10.25 sheets required to cover 1 square meter, this means at the current (15.01.18) price it works out at £35.36 per square meter. However you can only order in whole sheets, so it would be 11 meaning a price of £37.45

Would these be suitable for a wet room floor?
Liza O'Connor | 15 Jan 2018

Answer logo
Hi Liza,

These tiles have a matt surface and are made from a grade 4 porcelain meaning they can be used on a floor. They don’t have an official anti-slip rating but the extra grout lines mosaics provide over standard tiles will help to add some texture. Depending on the project an minimum anti-slip rating may be required, if this has been specified by an architect or designer please feel free to contact the sales team on 01536 314730

Hi Andrew,

This tile is a mosaic on a mesh backing. Each piece has a grout joint of approximately 2mm. Using spacers on mosaic sheets is very tricky and you may find laying them by eye easier.

Hello Steven,

Providing the cut is not too thin, you can use a manual tile cutter or an electric cutter such as a wet cutter or angle grinder. However, the most popular method for trimming mosaics and one of the most accurate, is to use a pair of mosaic nippers:
