Founded in Kettering, Northamptonshire in 1987, Walls and Floors has grown to become one of the UK’s best-loved and most-trusted tile retailers. Here’s an introduction to our very first tile showroom…

Opening up shop in Kettering
The first Walls and Floors showroom opened in Wilson Terrace, Kettering, in the late 1980’s. Richard Greenbank, who had some experience in the tiling industry, teamed up with Les Green, a local tiler.
They acquired an old petrol station in Wilson Terrace, with a big off-road car park, and set to work transforming it into one of the largest tile showrooms in the UK! Immediately, people from surrounding counties flocked to the showroom and they’ve been coming back ever since.

Although Walls and Floors has taken off phenomenally in the last thirty years, we haven’t forgotten our roots! The showroom in Wilson Terrace, Kettering, which overlooks a grassy corner of the Pleasure Park, is still going strong; serving hundreds of customers each month.

Customers travel to our Kettering Tile Showroom from far and wide for lots of reasons! Among them are the great choice and the fantastic prices. But most of all, they come for our fab customer service and expert advice.
At our Wilson Terrace showroom, we boast a dedicated and professional team of knowledgeable and friendly staff, with over one hundred years of tile experience between them.

A tile showroom with all the latest looks
Lots of showrooms are tiled a certain way when they’re first opened and then they’re left that way for the decades that follow – but not ours! As the latest styles and trends change, our showroom changes too!
Our designers and buyers travel the world to find the latest looks. They carry out endless research, visit dozens of shows, and attend countless seminars to ensure that our tile offering covers all the hottest trends. Our tilers are constantly updating different parts of the showroom to keep up with the changing face of interior design.

Helping the Northamptonshire community
Throughout the past thirty years, our Kettering showroom has always tried to make a difference to those in need in Northamptonshire.
Each year, when the Kettering carnival comes around, we free up one of our lorries to host a float. It won Best Float award one year, when we were hosted the Jollyes Pet Superstores crew to raise money for the blind.
We donated some metro tiles for the cafe of Johnny’s Happy Place – a charity building in Kettering that helps individuals cope with their mental health through artistic projects. We also donated tiles for the kitchen at Maplefields Circle of Friends – a community project in Corby whose goal is to help conquer loneliness in senior citizens.
At Christmas time, joining many local companies, our staff headed out to the shops and bought bucket-loads of toys. These were then donated to the young patients in the children’s wards of Kettering General Hospital, who were too unwell to go home for Christmas.
We look forward to continuing to support Northamptonshire community projects and charities in the future.
