Which Composite Fence Panel is Best for You? A Step by Step Guide

Introduction

Choosing the right composite fence panel might seem like a simple decision, but with so many styles, colours, and installation methods available, it can quickly feel overwhelming. LuxeLine® composite fence panels offer greater privacy, decorative flair, and long-lasting durability – but how do you know which is right for you? This step-by-step guide breaks the decision-making process down into manageable stages, helping you weigh up your options and make an informed choice with confidence.

Step 1 – Choose your Installation Method

First, you need to work out how best to install your fence posts. LuxeLine® offers three different installation methods, ensuring we can accommodate each type of garden. They include pedestal-mounted, buried posts, and your own concrete posts.

A visual guide showing three installation methods for LuxeLine composite fence panels. The top section displays the "above ground" option with pedestal mounted black posts secured to a solid surface. The middle section shows the "below ground" option with posts embedded directly into the earth. The bottom section illustrates the "existing concrete posts" method, where panels are fitted between pre-installed light grey concrete posts. All three panels feature a modern grey wood-effect slat design, set against a backdrop of green grass. Text at the bottom reads "Step 1: Choose installation method".

Above Ground

Our pedestal mounted posts sit above ground, and are screwed into your floor. They are ideal for those who are looking to install composite fencing onto surfaces that are solid, for example, wood decking, concrete, etc. All you need to do is drill holes into your floor, screwing the base of the post into these holes, and then cover over the top with the cap provided. Follow our installation guide for a more in-depth instruction on this.

Below Ground

Our buried posts sit below ground. They are intended for those who are looking to install their fencing onto softer flooring types, for example, grass, gravel, etc. We advise digging a hole 50cm deep, wide enough to accommodate a little wiggle room on either side of the post. You’ll then need to mix concrete, pouring this into the hole when you insert the post. This creates a strong hold for your panels.

Existing Concrete Posts

If you have existing concrete posts but wish to install composite fencing, don’t worry, we have an option for you, too! With our “own posts” option, we’ll deliver channel adapters that attach to your existing concrete posts, meaning you can slot LuxeLine® slats into your posts!

Step 2 – Choose Your Slat Colour

Now, you need to choose your desired slat colour. We have a wide selection of colours available to choose from, ranging from striking black to warm teak for a classic wood fencing look. LuxeLine® fences don’t need painting or treating, thanks to their stunning make-up and colouring. You’ll never have to paint the fence again!

The fence includes decorative curved screen toppers with an intricate cut-out design. On the left side of the image, five LuxeLine composite slat colour swatches are displayed vertically, ranging from black and grey to walnut, brown, and teak wood tones. Each swatch represents a different fencing shade option. The patio features large light-grey tiles, with grey outdoor sofas, cushions, and a matching coffee table completing the stylish scene. Text in the bottom right reads "Step 2: Choose your Colour".

Wood Tones

Choose from one of our wood tones to replicate a classic wood fence aesthetic. Opt for teak for a warming, rich garden fence shade, replicating the classic, raw fence colour. Or, for something slightly deeper, choose our Walnut fence slats, providing a stylish natural wood tone packed with character!

Blacks and Greys

For something more modern and contemporary, take a look at our black and grey fence slats. These shades welcome a luxurious scheme, perfect for those wanting a little extra elegance throughout their garden design. Choose black for a striking scheme, or light grey for something a little more adaptable and inviting.

Step 3 – Choose your Post Height

Our pedestal-mounted posts come in two versatile heights! You can choose from 3ft or 6ft to suit your garden needs.

The left panel is 3ft tall, offering a lower boundary level for front gardens or subtle partitions, while the right panel is 6 feet tall, providing added height and privacy. Both panels are framed with sleek black posts and set against a green hedge and trees in the background. The 3ft panel is mounted on a raised stone base, while the 6ft panel extends directly from the ground. Text at the bottom right reads "step 3:: Choose your panel height".

3ft Fence Panels

Our 3ft composite fence panels are ideal for those looking for a partition between neighbouring gardens or for the front garden area. They are perfect for bordering your property boundaries at the front of your house, creating a beautiful partition between your house and the public path or road. Our 3ft fences are available in our above-ground pedestal-mounted post options.

6ft Fence Panels

Ideal for true privacy, 6ft fence panels are a taller option that provides a partition between your space and that of the neighbours. We offer 6ft fences in all of our post types to provide true versatility for your garden design. This height also follows UK height regulations, so no need to worry about upsetting the neighbours!

Step 4 – Add a Decorative Topper

Looking to introduce a little extra customisation and personality to your garden fence panels? Take a look at our selection of decorative screen toppers! Made from durable polystyrene composite, in a sleek black finish and 7 different designs, these stylish toppers elevate your fencing to the next level! This step is completely optional, so if you don’t like the look of our toppers, you don’t need one! But if you do, note that they are the same height as two individual slats, so leave your last two slats off the top of the fence, and replace them with the decorative topper.

Each design is shown against lush greenery for contrast. The background features leafy trees, adding to the natural garden setting. Text at the bottom right reads "Step 4: add a topper (Optional)".

Straight Toppers

Available in 4 designs, including lattice, slat, Moroccan and jungle, LuxeLine® straight toppers provide a uniform, even finish to the top of your fence panels. They’re a classic choice for those looking to welcome elegance to their garden.

Curved Toppers

Available in 3 designs, including floral, lattice and geometric, these toppers feature an added level of flair, with a curved top. Please note that these will add a little extra height to the overall height of your composite fencing.

Step 5 – Pick your Finish

Lastly, you need to decide which way round you are going to use our fence slats! LuxeLine® fencing slats feature a reversible design, with one side featuring a natural wood grain design, replicating that of a real wood fence, and the other a classic brushed finish, for a sleek overall finish.
