Brilliant tiles, we covered our fairly big kitchen in these tiles a year ago and they are tough, resilient and look great. Now ordered these tiles again for another room. Definitely would recommend if you want a matt finish and most people coming into the kitchen think that the tiles are real wood. Would recommend.

Question logo
hi would these tiles stand 4 dogs running over them eg (scratches) and odd accident , spillage, as i need hard wearing flooring and the floor is concrete that the tiles will be going on .
Linda Taylor | 14 Nov 2018

Answer logo
Hi Linda,

These tiles are glazed ceramic so will be fine against spillages. They also have a wearing grade of 4 which is suitable for all domestic and commercial areas subject to normal foot traffic. However no tile is fully guaranteed against scratching due to the varying conditions a tile can be subjected to. These tiles and many others of the same grade, are very hard and resistant to scratching so should cater fine for dog claws or light dirt being walked over them, but harsher grit could possibly minor surface abrasion.

We would recommend obtaining a sample to ensure you are happy with the finish before making your final decision.

Question logo
Hi, are these tiles rectified ?
if not what sort of mm size difference should I expect in a box ?
Mrs Caroline Haynes | 29 Oct 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Caroline,

These tiles are not rectified. However when they are manufactured, due to the varying sizes following the firing process, they are sorted into separate calibres and loaded to different pallets. So although the tolerance allowed by BSEN14411 is +/- 2mm size variation (4mm from smallest to largest), the sorting process limits each pallet to be nearer to +/- 0.5 to 1mm. Due to the overall size and shape of the tile, it is unlikely that there will be any variation in the width, however if there is minor difference in the length, this should not be noticeable if the tiles are laid in one of the recommended layouts:

hi i really like these tiles (royal oak suar) i have looked but can't find a skirting tile to match. could you suggest one please
Tracy | 9 Oct 2018

Answer logo
Hi Tracy,

Unfortunately, these tile do not have a matching skirting. However it is extremely common for customers to cut the tiles in half length ways, and to fit the strips as a skirting, and finish of with a tile trim such as these:

We have received a sample tile and like it but want to know how many different tiles there are in the Oak Wood Suar range as can't see this on the description. Thanks
Janice Harrhy | 3 Jun 2018

Answer logo
Hi Janice

There are approximately 6-8 different pattern variations but the position of them is printed in random positions of the tile. So there is ample opportunity to get a natural looking layout. We would recommend loose laying a larger area to achieve a suitable blend of wood grain before physically fixing them.

Can you use these tiles outside on a patio?
David Stafford | 3 May 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi David,

These tiles are ceramic so as well suited to external use as a porcelain equivalent. We recommend porcelain tiles with an R-11 rating or high for external areas. One such range in the wood effect would be our Vintage Wood Planks, which features a smooth indoor version and a non-slip equivalent suitable for external areas:

Can these tiles be used outdoors?
Gill | 29 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Gill,

These tiles are ceramic and have a very smooth finish, so we would not recommend them for external use. However a frost resistant and anti-slip alternative that would be suitable is the Larice from the Vintage Wood Planks Range:

Would it be possible to use these tiles as a kitchen worktop?
Yvo | 15 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hello and thank you for your enquiry.

These tiles can be used on a worktop. We would the adhesive you use will dependent on the substrate but out Uniflex is suitable for most situations. For hygiene purposes, we recommend the us of the Mapei Kerapoxy Design Grout:

Question logo
Can these tiles be used in a wetroom style bathroom, if an anti-slip treatment is used? Looking at using Lithofin Anti Slip.
Robyn Thompson | 25 Feb 2018

Answer logo
Hi Robyn,

These tiles can be used in bathrooms but areas that are constantly in contact with water such as wetroom floors, we would normally advise a tile with a slip resistance rating of R10 or greater. Here is a similar alternative tile:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/vintage-wood-plank-tiles-larice-970x237-anti-slip-plank-tiles

Due to supplier recommendations, we would not be able to offer any future guarantees on tiles that have had they technical characteristics physically altered. The Lithofin Anti-Slip permanently etches the glaze which will slightly sacrifice the finish of the tile for the slip resistance in wet conditions. But although it would work, it is impossible to say how much of an anti-slip gain you will achieve. It could however be advantageous to perform a test before fixing, to ensure you will be happy with the final outcome.

Are these tiles suitable to be used around a woodburner?
Kay | 23 Feb 2018

Hi Kay,

These tiles can be used around woodburners. We would recommend that they are fixed with a heat resistant adhesive such as the Palace Heat Resist:

Hi - I was looking at the picture of these tiles: What grout should I use and what colour? They appear to have a dark brown grout in the picture but I can't find grout/adhesive of that colour.

Answer logo
Hi Andy,

A good grout to use is the Mapei Ultracolour Plus which is flexible, anti mould and has built in moisture repellents to prevent staining. Colour is down to personal preference, but the colour used in the image and one of the most popular among previous customers is Chocolate:

Can these be used in a bathroon? Looking for a wood effect suitable for a bathroom.
Kate Melvin | 1 Jan 2018

Answer logo
Hi Kate,

These tiles are fine for all residential/domestic foot traffic and suitable for bathroom floors. The matt surface of these tiles gives a degree of slip resistance. We would recommend you order a sample first though to make sure you are happy with the colour and finish.

Hi Claire,

The tile is very slightly textured. It has been designed to give the same subtle feel as engineered wood. We would recommend ordering a sample to ensure suitability for your project.
