At £20 per sq M These are very much at the cheaper end. They look as if they had been taken from an old French chateau and are invariably the first things praised by anyone visiting our home. We have just had a second batch delivered. The first covered our hallway and bathroom and now we will complete the study and kitchen. We are extremely pleased with the result... why else would we have gone on to order a second batch?

Question logo
What colour grout to you recommend for these tiles?
Jill Lewis | 24 May 2019

Answer logo
Hi Jill

Grout colour is entirely down to personal preference. In the room-set image, white has been used, but in heavy traffic areas, people tend to opt for darker colours such as a mid-grey shade, as it is less susceptible to discolouration.

To aid your decision, we can provide samples from our Norcros 4 Into 1 grout range and would recommend comparing a selection of colours against a sample tile, before making your final decision:

Love the look of Antique Vintage Blue floor tiles...every search done brings me back to them even though I specify Grey colour. Are they Blue or are they Grey, please?
Terry | 24 Apr 2019

Answer logo
Hi Terry

The background colour of the tile is off white and has a hint of grey to it, which is why it comes up in the search. But the main pattern colour is blue. We would recommend obtaining a sample to ensure you are happy with the colour and the finish, before making your final decision.

Question logo
Can these tiles be used on walls? Like a feature wall in the shower?
Emdri Smith | 26 Feb 2019
0
Answer logo
Hi Emdri,

These tiles can be used on shower walls. However, there are a couple of considerations to take into account.

The first is that due to the combined weight of the tile and fixing materials (24kgs), they will be too heavy to go onto plaster (limit of 20kgs). We recommend the walls be sufficiently constructed with Render (50kgs), unskimmed plasterboard (32kgs) or a tile backer board such as Hardie Backer (100+ kgs):
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/hardiebacker-board-james-hardie

Secondly, it is a requirement of British Standards, that wet area substrates are made sufficiently waterproof with a tanking membrane such as the Ardex WPC, before installing the tiles:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ardex-tile-preparation-sealants-ardex-wpc-waterproof-protection-coat

Question logo
Can these tiles be used for a shower floor?
Rob | 5 Jan 2019
0
Answer logo
Hi Rob,

These tiles are glazed ceramic so can be used in wet areas. As with all wet area tiling, the substrates to be tiled will need tanking with a suitable waterproofing kit such as the Ardex WPC:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ardex-tile-preparation-sealants-ardex-wpc-waterproof-protection-coat

These tiles do not have an anti-slip rating so will only provide a minimal amount of grip when wet. However they can be used safely on bathroom floors or around shower trays in conjunction with a towel or bath-mat.

The amount of slip resistance needed for domestic purposes, is entirely down to preference, so would would advise obtaining a sample to test and ensure it is suitable for your personal requirements before making your final decision.

Antique Vintage Blue Floor Tiles 450x450x9.5 mm would these tiles be suitable for a wet room? Can they be cut into mosaics for the shower floor?
Judeth McCloskey | 14 Aug 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Judith

As these tiles are glazed, they can be used in wet areas, but they have a smooth surface so will give minimal grip if used on the floor. There is nothing stopping you from cutting them up into a mosaic form, but bear in mind that the edges of each piece will need filing to minimise the possibility of injury when walking on them. We would suggest that an actual mosaic is purchased separately if you intend to put them on the floor.

Are these suitable for outdoor use? They come up under the exterior filter but then just say interior on the spec....
Hannah | 16 Jul 2018

Answer logo
Hi Hannah

These tiles are suitable for internal use only I have searched and cannot see where this is coming up in the external section other than a banner of best selling floor tiles that runs across the bottom of the screen. However this is unrelated to the search. But if you can forward the link where it suggested this tile, I will pass it to our development team for amendment. This can be sent to customerservice@wallsandfloors.co.uk.

I’ve just bought these lovely tiles for my bathroom floor. I would like a plain ‘light coloured tile to go on the walls half height around the room but full height in the shower. Can you please recommend anything? I can’t decide if white, cream, beige or light grey would be best?
Sue | 6 Jul 2018

Hi Sue,

The background colour of the tile is an off white/ivory tone. With the blue pattern, one of the favourite complementary ranges is the Tangier. Or as per the roomset image shows, Metro tiles are also a good complimentary style. We would suggest obtaining samples before making your final decision but if you would like further options, please call our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to help you:

Would white gloss brick style tiles look okay with this tile? I’m worried brick ones might steal the lime light a little!
Laura Stacey | 2 May 2018

Hi Laura,

White Gloss bricks will be fine. Using white grout or pale grey colour grout on the wall tiles will give them a subtle look so as not to take the vibrancy of the floor tile away from the eye.

What colour grout would you suggest for this tile?
Kelly | 28 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Kelly,

The grout colour is down to personal preference. We have a selection of images of customer projects where different colours have been used from white to a light/medium grey. But the best way to choose is to order a sample of the tile and a selection of our Norcros 4 Into 1 Grout samples to see which you prefer before placing your main order.

Hi
When laying and grouting these type of "4 in one" tiles how do you place the spacers and grout them? are you supposed to grout the bits between the pretend joints as well as in between the edges?
Julie | 10 Apr 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Julie

These tiles are not divided so are grouted as you would any other tile, with a 2-3mm grout joint. If you are referring to a tile such as the Ledbury (link below) the score lines are intended to be grouted over. The score lines are generally 2mm wide so we would also recommend a 2mm spacer between each tile to keep the design uniform:

Hi, have you ever seen these tiles used on a wall? And how much would it cost to ship to donegal ireland?
Elaine | 31 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Elaine,

These tiles can be used on walls providing they are correctly prepared and capable of supporting the weight. If in doubt, we'd advise the use of Hardie Backer cement board. Although we don't have any images, we have had customers purchase these tiles for wall areas, such as kitchen splashbacks, shower and bathroom walls, and feature walls for living and dining areas.

Regarding shipping, please email your requirements to vip@wallsandfloors.co.uk and they will arrange a quote for the tiles and delivery.

Charlotte McConnell | 6 Mar 2018

Hi Charlotte,

These tiles are ok to use in a bathroom, but to use on a shower or wet room floor, which is constantly wet and being hit directly by water, we wouldn't advise using anything less than an anti slip grade of R10.

Question logo
What colour grouts do recommend and could you tell me the background colour of this tile please
Wayne bennett | 23 Feb 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Wayne,

The background colour is off white with slight hints of Ivory and pale grey. The grout is down to personal preference ans the is no grout that provides an exact match. However the most popular colours are the Mapei Silver grey which albeit is not exact, is a complimentary colour to the tile background, or the Tornado grey which offers a dark contrast to make the tile stand out:
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/mapei-ultracolour-plus-grout-ultracolour-plus-111-silver-tile-grout
https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/mapei-ultracolor-plus-174-tornado-grey-tile-grout

We always recommend grouting a small test area to ensure you are happy with the colour before grouting the full area.

Can these also be used as wall tiles? I'm searching for some faded/antique look tiles for my kitchen, but so far these are the only ones that work. Thanks, Helen

Answer logo
Hi Helen,

As well as floors, these tiles can also be installed on correctly prepared walls. Due to their weight we do not advise putting them on plaster or plaster skim, but can be installed direct to bare plasterboard or a tile backer board such as Hardie Backer. We would also recommend fixing them with a cement based adhesive:

Hi, can these tiles be used in a wet room? Thanks
Mr Marc Andrassy | 9 Feb 2018

Answer logo
Hi Marc

These tiles are fine to use on a wet room wall. If you’d also like to use them on the floor, they're matt, so they do have some anti-slip qualities, but some customers prefer the extra slip resistance offered by tiles with an anti-slip finish.

We would always recommend ordering a sample tile first to make sure you are happy with the finish of the tile, but also the colour and style. Please also remember to use the correct adhesive, grout and tanking kits for your wet room project.

Hi Laura,

As the porch is covered and they won't be in direct frost, they will be ok. The only thing to consider is the slip resistance as they can be slippery when wet. We would advise ordering a sample to ensure the colour and finish is suitable for your particular requirements.

Unfortunately, this tile is a single design on its own. There are many 450x450 tiles available to complimenting but matching the white/ivory background but none of them will be an exact match. Alternatively, you might consider a contrasting colour. Please follow this link to view the available 450x450 tiles:

Hello Leanne,

It's actually the Blackfriars (gloss Black 200x100: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/metro-200x100-tiles-blackfriars-gloss-black-tiles ), however the reflection through the window is giving it a blue hint.

If you would like a blue metro tile to complement the tiles, a sample of the Manor House or the Knightsbrige might be to your liking:

Hello Becky,

If you only have straight cuts to do across the full length of tile, a manual cutter is by far the quickest option. However for cutting tiles around angle in addition to straight cuts, an electric cutter would be more suited.

These tiles are glazed ceramic, so they do not require sealing. However, to help protect them from dirt and to make them easier to clean, you can give them a couple of coats of LTP Tile and Grout Protector.

Hi Charlotte

Although they have no official anti slip grade, these tiles are matt, and so therefore have some non slip qualities. However, for use in a wet room, we do not recommend using a tile with anything less than an R10 anti slip grade, so these tiles would not be suitable. They are perfectly suitable for use on a wall and would require fixing with a cement based adhesive such as the Standard Flex:
