DESCRIPTION

Transform your home this season by creating a striking statement floor with our Oakham Grey Scored Tiles. They have a charming period geometric pattern; ideal for injecting a vintage look into your living area, kitchen, bathroom or hallway. They are made from ceramic and have a subtle matt finish. Part of our collection of Memoir Encaustic Effect Tiles, they take their name from a Victorian town in the picturesque county of Rutland, England. This tile has a scored design, which you grout; each tile then gives the illusion of four separate tiles.

Question logo
Hi
I would like a matching grey plain or metro style wall tile to go with these on the floor. Which ones do you recommend ?

Deenar | 30 Jun 2019

Hi Deenar

The Metro's and the Oakham being from different ranges, will not be an exact match for colour, however the closest complimentary colours we will have are the Retro Metro Grey and the Sloane Square:

https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/metro-200x100-tiles-sloane-square-grey-tiles

We would advise obtaining samples of both the wall and floor tiles, to compare in your intended lighting situation, before making your final decision. Question logo
Hi
Are these tiles suitable for wet room floor.? (I’ve just read your comment that they are slightly porous).

Thanks
Heather | 7 Apr 2019

Answer logo
Hi Heather,

It is only the exposed ceramic scored lines and the edges of the tile that are slightly porous, these areas are covered by adhesive and grout during the fitting process and leaves only the glazed surface exposed to the water in a wet room environment, which is not porous. The tiles are fine for use in this type of room and have proven very popular for customers projects.

British Standards set out that all bathrooms are fully tanked and water proofed. We can provide the accessories and items to ensure your project not only looks great but is carried out to the right standards too.

Question logo
The tiles have the brown spacing lines through the middle. Should these be grouted as well? Will it take ok? Thanks
Gary | 28 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Gary,

Yes these lines are to be grouted over. The ceramic that it is cut into is slightly porous which gives the grout a good surface to key into. Being a slim joint it would need to be a grout suitable for 1mm joints upwards such as the Norcros 4 into 1 grout range:

Is there a matching plain grey wall tile? Either same brand (preferable) or a time that is the exact same grey? I would like maybe a mottled or wood effect?

What colour grout would you recommend with these tiles? It looks like White has been used in the photo, is this correct?
Katie | 15 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Katie,

It is indeed white in the image (link below). However if you do use white grout on the floor and depending on the amount of foot traffic, you can reduce discoloration by applying a coat of the LTP Grout & Tile Protector. Other popular colours are medium grey and anthracite:

Question logo
Can these tiles be used in a wet room?
Catherine Hibberd | 1 Jan 2018

Answer logo
Hi Catherine,

These tiles are ok to use in a bathroom, but to use on a shower or wet room floor, which is constantly wet and being hit directly by water, we wouldn't advise using anything less than an anti slip grade of R10. For assitance in finding possible alternative, please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to help.
