Hello!

Would these tiles be suitable for around my wood burner?

Thank you so much

Hi Francesca

These tiles are glazed porcelain, so can be used around wood burners. However, we would recommend fixing them with the Palace Heat resist Adhesive for this particular situation:

If you wish to discuss your project in more detail or to arrange samples or a quotation, please call our Sales Team on 01536 314730, and they will be more than happy to help you.

Can these tiles be used outside?
Jo | 7 Jul 2019

Answer logo
Hi Jo

These tiles are frost resistant porcelain, so can be used externally and should be fine to walk on in dry conditions if they are kept clean and free from dirt. However, they are not classed as anti-slip and will provide minimal grip in wet conditions.

We would recommend obtaining samples to ensure the finish is suitable for your personal requirements, before making your final decision. Question logo
are these suitable for kitchen wall or just for floors?
Rebecca Francis | 17 Jun 2019

Answer logo
Hi Rebecca,

While these tiles were originally made to be floor tiles they are also fine to be used on most walls as well. It is important that the wall is in good order and made from plaster or plaster board. We suggest the wall is primed before fitting the tiles using https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/bal-tile-tools-prep-maintenance-prime-apd and then the tiles will need to be stuck on with a quick drying cement based adhesive like https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/toolshed-tile-adhesive-kwik-flex-grey-floor-tile-adhesive If you require any further assistance or a best price arranging you can call 01536 314730 or e-mail sales@wallsandfloors.co.uk

Kind regards,

Question logo
Can these tiles be used with a wet underfloor heating system? They are going in a kitchen and bathroom.
lauren | 14 Apr 2019

Answer logo
Hi Lauren

These tiles are porcelain, so fine for use on all forms of underfloor heating. They can also be used in kitchens and bathrooms but as they are not certified as an anti-slip, we would recommend obtaining samples to ensure the finish is suitable for your personal requirements. If slip resistance is a concern, they can still be used ensuring a towel or mat is laid in the immediate wet areas.

Question logo
how many squares are in one tile? as I saw above a comment about the grout lines being drawn on? Thanks Charlotte
Charlotte | 31 Jan 2019

Answer logo
Hi Charlotte,

Each tile is divided into nine squares (3x3) as per shown in the 2nd and 4th images. These are separated by a 3mm faux grout line to give the appearance of being individual tiles. We would advise obtaining a sample to ensure the tile is suitable for your project, before making your final decision.

Question logo
Firstly as non slip are they best not used in a bathroom or cloakroom.
Secondly can they be cut?
Mrs ANGELA GILLEN | 29 Jan 2019

Answer logo
Hi Angela,

Although these tiles do not have an anti-slip rating, the matt finish will give a slight degree of slip resistance in wet conditions. However, most customers who lay these in a bathroom, do so in conjunction with a towel or bath mat laid in the immediate wet areas, to reduce the risk of slipping. We would advise obtaining a sample to test and ensure the texture is suitable for your personal requirements, before making your final decision.

They can be cut to size by using either a heavy-duty manual tile cutter, an electric wet cutter, or the most cost-effective way is to use a regular 10-12000 rpm angle grinder with a porcelain cutting diamond blade:

Hello, I want to buy these tiles - my bathroom floor is 8ft x 4ft, can you tell me how much I would have to order please and also what grout should I use.
Many thanks

Answer logo
Hi Lorna,

For the measurements you have given you will need to order 3.27sqm which includes 10% extra for waste and cuts. As for the grout this one is recommended https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/mapei-ultracolour-plus-grout-ultracolour-plus-113-cement-grey-tile-grout-12933 and is the right size bag for your project too

Are these tiles suitable for walls. Would like to use them as kitchen splashback.
Nathalie Parker | 27 Jul 2018

Answer logo
Hi Nathalie,

Yes, these tiles can also be used on walls. Due to its ability to support the weight of this tile, we would recommend installing on to a tile backer board such as Hardie Backer, using the StandFlex cement based adhesive:

Question logo
can the louane tile be used on an outside terrace in the uk?
BARRY Allsop | 10 May 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Barry,

It's the personal choice of our customers which tiles they use externally. Because they're made from porcelain, they're frost proof, so they could withstand the conditions. However, other customers tend to use tiles with an anti slip rating of R11 or R12 outdoors, whereas these Louane Tiles have no anti slip rating.

Here's a link to our anti-slip range: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/anti-slip-tiles

Question logo
Are the Louane tiles frostproof and suitable for an outside courtyard ?
Marion Dowling | 10 May 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Marion,

These tiles are porcelain which makes them frostproof, so from that perspective they can be used externally. However they have a smooth matt texture which will provide little grip in wet conditions, so we would recommend obtaining a sample to decide if the finish is suitable for your personal requirements.

Question logo
2 questions please..
Can these tiles be used outdoor on a balcony and are they non slit
Philip Jones | 9 Apr 2018
0
Answer logo
Hi Philip,

These tiles are porcelain and frost resistant so can be used externally. However the are not certified as Anti-Slip. The texture is fine in the dry and gives a slight degree of slip resistance when wet that is suitable for the personal requirements of some customers, but for external use, our recommendation would be a tile with a minimum R11 finish. We would recommend obtaining samples to ensure suitability before placing your main order. For suitable alternative anti-slip tiles, please contact our sales team on 01536 314730 and they will be more than happy to assist you.

Question logo
Hi, the grout lines on these tiles are painted on, not faux grout lines. We are very happy with our tiles but this information that you gave was incorrect.
Melissa Robinson | 4 Apr 2018

Answer logo
Hi Melissa and thank you for your feedback,

The lines have not been painted on as you have described. It is open to interpretation and opinion, but a tile with a grout line printed into the design is known in the industry as a "faux" grout line. This term should not be confused with a "Scored" grout line that is physically cut in to the tiles surface to allow for actual grout to be applied into.

We apologise for any confusion but are sincerely delighted that you are happy with them. Please feel free to email any images of your finished project and you can enter a competition to win back the cost of your tiles. Follow this link for further information:

Can I use these as a splash back behind an aga?
Tracey Barnes | 28 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Tracey

Yes, these tiles are glazed porcelain so naturally heat resistant. They can be installed on correctly prepared walls (not plaster due to the weight limits) using the Palace Heat Resistant adhesive:

Question logo
Hi, can you tell me if the dividing lines between the 9 sections of the tile are mock grout lines or painted on lines?
Melissa Robinson | 26 Mar 2018

Answer logo
Hi Melissa,

Yes, they are faux grout lines (or mock grout lines) and part of the tile design, to give the impression of smaller individual tiles. If you are looking for a grout to match, the Mapei Medium Grey is the closest:
