Zhoosh™ FAQ’s – Answering your Questions

It’s expected our devoted tile customers will have questions about Zhoosh paint, and we’re here to provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions!

Do I have to apply primer to use your woodwork paint?

Zhoosh woodwork paint is most effective when applied to surfaces that have been primed. A primer helps to conceal any imperfections in the wood and provides a smooth base for the paint to adhere to. White Primer paint can be purchased from our online store.

Can I use Zhoosh woodwork paint on my radiators?

Yes, Zhoosh woodwork paint is also suitable for use on interior metal surfaces such as radiators.

How many tins of paint do I need?

A 2.5 litre tin of Zhoosh paint should be sufficient for one coat on an area of 25-35 square metres. The 750ml tins should cover an area of 7.5-10.5 square metres. If you are unsure of how much paint to purchase, you can always get in touch with our friendly team.

How long should I wait between coats of paint?

It is important to wait for the paint to fully dry before applying additional coats to prevent streaking, peeling, and colour variations. Zhoosh paint is designed to be touch dry after two hours, but we recommend waiting four hours before applying the next coat.

How many coats of paint will I need to apply on my walls?

We recommend applying two coats of Zhoosh paint, with the second coat applied after four hours. Remember to consider the number of coats when determining the amount of paint to purchase.

What brush should I use with your paint?

We recommend using a high-quality synthetic brush or a good quality short or medium pile roller for all Zhoosh paints. There is no need to use a specific type of brush for the different Zhoosh paint types.

Will you offer different shades of paint in the future?

Currently Walls and Floors offer a selection of the full Zhoosh paints range, which we will be adding to in the future! For the full range, visit the Zhoosh website or check out their instagram, @zhooshpaintsuk.

What is minimal-VOC paint?

Zhoosh minimal-VOC paints contain minimal levels of Volatile Organic Compounds, chemicals commonly found in products such as paints, glues, and cleaning solutions, which have been linked to health issues such as headaches, eye and throat irritation. Despite the reduced amount of VOCs, Zhoosh paint maintains it’s high quality and durability through collaboration with colour designers and chemists. Additionally, Zhoosh’s minimal-VOC option is more environmentally friendly and has virtually no odour.

Is Zhoosh paint made in the UK?

Zhoosh’s water-based paint, packaging and recycled tins are all made in the UK, using local resources whenever possible. By keeping production costs local, Zhoosh reduces the distance their components and finished goods have to travel, lowering their carbon footprint and decreasing the risk of damage during transit.

What ingredients are in Zhoosh Paints?

Zhoosh paints are water-based with a very low level of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Ingredients include: 1,2-Benzisthiazol-3-(2H)-one,  5-Chloro-2-Methyl-4-Isothiazolin-3-one and 2-Methyl-2H-Isothiazol-3-One. Zhoosh paints are not currently vegan, but they are exploring this option.
